Top 5 Must-Have Eco-Friendly Products for Every Home
We all want to do our part in reducing our carbon footprint on Earth. I have always been an earth-loving, sustainable kind of gal wanting to help others learn how they can have more eco-friendly products in their home. When I started my cleaning business, I wanted my focus to be that cleaning company that uses eco-friendly products. I am going to give you my top eco-friendly products that you should have for your home.
Reusable Water Bottles:
I can remember when we would go to buy a huge pack of plastic water bottles. Not only was it bad for the environment but also the amount of microplastics that we ingested was not good. We invested in good quality stainless steel water bottles. I knew that it was safe to drink out of, and we would be cutting out the amount of plastic bottles going into the landfills. Using stainless steel bottles is long-lasting, temperature controlled but cost-effective saving your money.
Compostable Kitchen Products:
There are so many wonderful eco-friendly products for the kitchen that I love to use! One of my favorites are Swedish dishcloths! One Swedish dishcloth replaces 17 rolls of paper towels. They are made with wood pulp and cotton making it compostable once it gets worn out. Another favorite is beeswax food wraps. They replace the plastic that you use to cover your food. They are made with material and coated with beeswax and pine resin making it compostable once they are not usable anymore.
Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products:
Made from natural, non-toxic, biodegradable, or recycled materials. They avoid harmful chemicals like chlorine bleach, phosphates and synthetic fragrances. When I cleaned homes, my customers would rave about how the products I would use wouldn’t mess with their lungs. My business grew with a mission to help more homes to have natural eco-friendly products. I created a natural all-purpose eco-friendly cleaner to help families and cleaning companies all over.
Wool Laundry Dryer Balls:
I love using Wool Dryer Balls - not only is it eco-friendly but using them helps dry your laundry in half the time! Reduces static, and you are not putting harmful chemicals on your clothes that dryer sheets would. They also help with removing lint and pet fur from your clothes. They can be used for years, saving you money and toxic waste going into the landfills.
Reusable Produce & Grocery Bags:
As you go to check out your groceries, they ask if you want paper or plastic. I know here in Colorado, and a few other states, plastic bags are banned. A great alternative to using those plastic grocery bags is recycled bags. You can make them from recycled feed bags, buy reusable bags or use mesh cotton grocery bags. When you walk into the grocery store you see those thin plastic bags for produce on a roll. If you are a big fruit and veggie girl like I am, you probably buy a lot of produce which is a lot of those thin bags that are being used. It adds up every week and in the trash. Using cotton mesh produce bags can not only help the environment but also keep your produce fresher and free from plastic. This will help reduce household plastic waste in your home.
Conclusion:
You can make the change by starting small, learning how to use these five Eco-Friendly products for your home. Start small, start today, and let your home be a place where sustainable choices become second nature. Because when we take care of our homes and our earth, we’re creating a healthier tomorrow—for ourselves, our families, and generations to come.
